We fly into Guangzhou late last night and the girls did great on the plane over. Both fell asleep within minutes of takeoff and didn't wake up until we landed! The weather here is awesome and everyone is glad to ditch the heavy coats. We are also grateful for the Mattel playroom at the hotel as well as the playground within walking distance.

This morning we had our passport photo and medical exam and as expected she screamed the entire time! Even though our guide told her they were not going to give her a shot -- every examining area she screamed even louder - there were 4 in total.
We had lunch at Lucy's (for those that have been here) and discovered that Kylee is in love with French Fries and Ketchup! She has become an expert at dipping her fries in the ketchup and even examines the tip of the fry to make sure it has the right amount! She tried a grill cheese sandwich and we're not entirely sure if she liked it or ate half her sandwich so that I would give her more fries.

Ice cream treat!
Kylee can't decide if she likes it!
Tuesday we have her "swearing in" and then we head home early Wednesday morning (very, very early!). Mia misses all her friends and school and I think if she could go home today, she would be on the next plane. She did great and we are extremely proud of her, I think she is enjoying the role of Big Sister -- Jie Jie.
Kylee has discovered barrettes in her hair but has taken to a blue Lady Bug and truly doesn't care if I think it matches her outfits.
She has also taken to a new pair of shoes we bought her in Xi'an and refuses to try on (or wear) any other pair. The shoes are red ankle books so I'm not sure what we are going to do when the weather warms up. She also wants to dress in the traditional Chinese way of layering (3 layers on top and 3 on the bottom) and doesn't care that it is nearly 77 degrees. Hopefully we will be able to break this habit by July!

I have followed your blog and not posted. I have chills everytime I read your posts. Adoption is one of the greatest miracles in the world. I can't wait to meet Kylie, and the girls sleeping together is one of sweetest pix ever. I have a smiliar one of my boys when they were 4. I treasure that picture to this day. Angela D.
ReplyDeleteAngie, you are on the last leg of your fabulous journey. Treasure every moment (even the screaming!) because it will be over so soon. I love hearing about Kylee's little quirks as Lily had the same ones. Pretty soon you'll have trouble getting clothes on her at all! There is a little shop in that row of shops to the right of the bottom entrance to the White Swan...a local artist and young girl share the space. Her aunt makes silk blankets that are beautiful and the artist is great. Plus they bargain! We got lots of cute souvinirs from her. Enjoy your last couple of days!

You're not Angie...you're ANA!!! Sorry, I got my Xi'an moms mixed up!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the red boots! Hey, I always say Mia is like me in so many ways...now I'm thinking Kylee is like me, too, with the layers. I didn't know I was part-Chinese but I'm still dressing in three layers on the bottom and three on top! :)
ReplyDeleteWe miss you so much and can't wait for you to be home! Love to you each from Uncle Wayne and,
