The big day!

We are now a family of four!

After a little over 3 hours we finally got a smile.

Today, February 1, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. (3:00 a.m. EST) we met our daughter for the first time.

We had a long day and an even longer day tomorrow finalizing the Chinese portion of the adoption. Kylee spent the first three hours upset at the separation of the only caregiver she has ever known and I am sure it will take her some time to make the adjustment.

She is a curious child and the facilitator told us she is amazed at her vocabulary - of course all she kept saying way "I want to leave now" and "I don't want to stay with these people"!

She refuses to go to sleep so Edwin is holding her as we speak and humming a Dutch song to her in hopes she falls asleep! Mia is sound asleep and we are grateful she is a sound sleeper!

Please continue to pray for Kylee that her grieving period is a short one.

  1. Congratulations!!
I'm following your blog because I read your story on the Xianyang list, but now I read Dutch stuf!! Funny because I'm Dutch too. I gues you're mixed couple:) Enjoy your stay in Xian, I hope you will be able to vist the SWI in Xianyang. My daughter is from the Chinese part.

  5. We are overwhelmed with joy at the union of your family! Kylee is so beautiful and absolutely belongs with you. The two of them together fills our hearts and the four of you together gives us an almost overwhelming feeling of completion. Praise God for this incredible event! Isn't He good? He brought you four together to be a family and blessed you with an abundance of love. We are so grateful!!! We are praying for Kylee's grief to be brief.

  6. Hi Ana and Family....Congratulations! Kylee is beautiful and Mia looks so happy to be a big sister! Qin Xia is definitely bigger than when we saw her in February. Her smile is precious and I am confident you will see many more beautiful smiles from her soon. Rest comfortably knowing that the staff at XianYang has loved her and that connection to other people will allow her to love all of you.
